When life intervenes...

It's been a fruitless day for writing and life in general. I have two preschoolers and am in the throes of potty-training the youngest. He was doing sooooo well, only an accident every few days and really taking it on stride. Until two weeks ago...he fell off the wagon. Didn't want to go potty, didn't want to tell me when he had to go. We had to put him back in pull-ups and he was quite happy using them as a diaper.

So, this morning, we went back to remedial training. Every 15 minutes on the potty. Well...he pee'd through 4 pairs of undies and then proceeded to pee on the floor when I left him naked hoping that would help....

It also doesn't help that my 4-year old has only pooped on the potty twice in over a year. He waits until nap and then does his business in his pull-up. So...no pull-up for him today...and wet sheets and boyo after nap.

So, I'm very discouraged. .. my daughter was such a breeze to train that I don't even remember training her! I think she caught on and wore pull-ups for a few weeks, graduated to big girl panties and never looked back. I remember a couple of wet beds...but nothing like this!

Yeah, I know, this doesn't have a thing to do with writing...just life...

So, finding this quiz on the Divas of the Dark blog, I took it. I have to agree, fall is my favorite time of year. It's when the kids go back to school!!!!

You Belong in Fall

Intelligent, introspective, and quite expressive at times...
You appreciate the changes in color, climate, and mood that fall brings
Whether you're carving wacky pumpkins or taking long drives, autumn is a favorite time of year for you

Oh, I am so sorry. I had 2 girls, and it seemed so easy. Just picked out some Winnie The Pooh panties, and told them Pooh didn't like pee on him - it all worked. But I have heard boys are harder, so don't feel bad. It will come. I have yet to see a boy enter kindergarten in pullups!

And hey, sometimes you need to talk about stuff other than writing!

Life always has a way to get you. Don't worry. Take it all in stride. :)

I haven't done the seasons one yet, but I'm guessing I'm spring. And OMG I'm going through the same thing Ericka!

Only with my dog. :) She's 8 and used to be house trained, but when we moved I think she left her memory behind her. Ugh. Good luck. :)

The same thing happened to my son about 5 months ago (peeing). He's largely over it now but, oh my Lord, I was getting so frustrated. What had I done? What didn't I do?

It's so hard, hon. Pretty soon you'll be past it, and it'll all be an unpleasant memory. One you can laugh at hopefully! Kind of that manic laugh.

ANYWAY. You won Sasha's book! Drop by Naughty and Spice to see how to contact her.

I thought my kids would NEVER get potty trained. My ds was still wetting his undies at eight because he didn't want to leave the playstation long enough to take care of business.

Boys are *so* much harder than girls on potty training (okay, that's an unfair gross generalization)! My older one had issues clear up til he was 10. What you describe is, unfortunately, pretty normal behavior. The daytime stuff is partly control behavior, and the nighttime stuff is mostly because boys mature differently physically than girls. I know it doesn't help much knowing that, but having been the "god I am the world's worst mother" route, I've had an awful lot of people and a couple of docs tell me to quit worrying about it. The best family doc I ever had said, "Don't worry. I promise you he won't go to college peeing in his pants."
