Opportunity Knocks

Actually, this one pounded on the door!

Written in response to the Cobblestone Press Main Street Challenge to write a book in a month:

When a faerie godmother bungles one too many assignments, she's threatened with exile. On the run from her ex-boss who's also the crown prince, she ends up in Chicago, Illinois, where she finds danger from a different source: traffic congestion, housework, babysitting, and human males! Especially a sexy one named Phillip.

Thinking Blogger Award

Jacqueline tagged me for the thinking blogger. Since it was my "real" self who wrote the Cinderella story she loves, I've answered her tag over at http://pamskochinski.blogspot.com
If you've ever thought about writing flash fiction, I've got a challenge for you! Just by writing 250 words, you could win a $10 gift certificate from Cobblestone Press. Take me up on my challenge. So, head on over to Pam's blog and read the details!

Procrastination (sing with the anticipation tune)

Yep -- I'm supposed to be writing. . . but instead, I'm enjoying a lazy Sunday afternoon doing everything BUT writing. Sigh. Hopefully I'll be back at the keyboard tomorrow with a vengance.

Fanlit. . . Forever!

This week, one of the wonderful and talented women I met last fall (Tessa Dare/Eve Ortega) is blogging about her trip to Avon. She won the trip as one of the big prizes of the Avon Fanlit Contest. Eight weeks of total madness (6 chapters, but the first chapter sub/voting period ran for almost 3 weeks) but great fun.

Anyway, she's blogging about things she found out at Avon, information on submissions, queries, publicity, coverart and there's still more to come. So, if you've ever had any interest in submitting to Avon (or any of the large NY publishers), pop over and give her blog a read. http://tessadare.blogspot.com

She's also giving away some great prizes (I'm hoping to win one of today's offerings, This Little Piggy Went to Prada -- to give me a break from reading endless renditions of There's A Nightmare in My Closet).

Haunted Harrington House

Wild Ghost Chase is set in a haunted Victorian house in a fictional beach town along the California coast. The new owner wants to convert the old monstrosity to a bed and breakfast, but in order to do that, she has to get rid of the previous owners, Sylvie and Sara Harrington. Quite a tough little problem, as they've been there since 1888 and don't have any intention of leaving soon!

I needed a little inspiration with one of my main characters, Malcolm. He and his twin sister Monica are one of the teams of ghost hunters spending the weekend in the Harrington house. Well, Sylvie takes one look at Malcolm and decides that she's never leaving this earthly plane, especially when she finds this sleeping in her bed!

Book In A Month

Well -- I've taken on the challenge to write a book in a month running from April 10-May 10 (submission date to Harlequin Spice Briefs). The challenge was issued on Mainstreet at Cobblestone Press and there's quite a few of us participating. My only problem. . . I don't think my story is spicy enough and is probably going to end up being too long. But, I'm going to bang out the words anyway. . .

Wish me luck!

Wild Ghost Chase

"I'd give my paycheck for a cold spot." Monica sighed and propped her chin in her hand.
"Stop saying that. You're driving me nuts." Malcolm, Monica's twin brother, admonished her.
"Well, is it my fault that it's the only line of dialogue Ericka's written for me?"
"No." Malcolm commiserated. "I guess it's mine. She's working on my character worksheet and synopsis. But, if it's any consolation, you're next. Ericka has to get the whole story outlined by the 10th of April so she can participate in the Book In A Month on Main Street at Cobblestone Press."
"Promises, promises." Monica sighed again. "You know, I'd give my paycheck for a cold spot."
Malcolm just grinned.
